3 Day Defensive Pistol 101

Course Description: 

This is a 3-day Pistol training course which will focus on the improvement of participants Defensive Pistol handling and shooting skills and their Combat Pistol handling and shooting skills.

Participants will improve their dry-practice and live-fire pistol handling and shooting skills. Instruction will

deal primarily with the development of Practical Defensive and Combat Pistol handling and shooting skills in

preparation for use in a home defense situation, concealed carry, personal defense application and where applicable in a professional environment such as Law Enforcement and Security.

This course will cover:

-Introductory elements of situational awareness.

-Combat mindset

-Principals of personal defense.

-Physiological response & reactions of the human body (Fight, Flight,Freeze), when confronted with a

perceived life threatening situation.

-Weapons (*pistol*) retention for self defense - Holstered & Unholstered.

Students who successfully complete the timed Defensive Pistol Qualification Course will receive a

certified Defensive Pistol designation of; Marksman, Sharpshooter or Expert.

The following firearms training topics will be covered:

-Firearms safety review.

-Loading / Unloading / press

checking.

-Pistol Fundamentals (Breathing, Shooting Platform, Grip, Sight Picture, Trigger Manipulation, Follow Through).

-Drawing from a Hip and Thigh holster.

-Situational Awareness Combat / Survival Mindset Basics of Defensive & Combat Shooting.

-Front Sight & Flash Sight Picture Acquisition.

-Post engagement Threat Assessment.

-Combat Marksmanship and Training Analysis.

-Ammunition Management - Tactical reloads, Emergency reloads & Speed reloads.

-Timed engagement from ready pistol. Timed engagement from the holster.

-Understanding of timings in a Defensive Pistol engagement.

-Malfunction Drills Enhanced dry-practice skills development.

Timed Defensive Pistol Qualification Assessment & Certification

(Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert).

* Precision concentration drills - Introduction

* Controlled multi-shot & multiple target acquisition - Introduction Pistol Retention & Pistol

Course duration: 3 days (25 hours)

(Tuition fee includes all range fees &

ammunition of 900-1000 Rounds).

Course student limit: 12

Student requirements: 

-Notepad writing utensil or other means of note taking.

-Eye protection. Ear protection

-Heavy-duty leather or nylon pants belt.

-Holster (Hip or Thigh). NOTE: If you are Law Enforcement or Security, you may use your duty holster for

this course. You must prove that that you are in fact an individual who utilizes the specific holster for

employment purposes. 

** All other participants must use a Level 0 or Level 1 (IPSC type holster) that covers the trigger guard.

Magazine carriers & a minimum of (2) magazines.

Appropriate pistol cleaning kit. You must be prepared to clean your firearm in the event that a malfunction is due to firearm cleanliness.

Ammunition Requirements: 

Ammunition is provided with full payment. Do Not bring your own ammunition to the course.

* Pistol Mounted Optic / Red Dot Sight handguns are allowed in this course.

NOTE: No one is permitted in a Course if you have a Weapons Prohibition. IF you are not a PAL/RPAL Holder or a person that has the legal ability to obtain a PAL/RPAL and you sign up for course. You will be removed from course and 50% of the value of the course will be kept for administration services.
